Abu Galum is one of five Managed Resource Protected Area in the Sinai. It sits right between Dahab and Nuweiba, on the east coast of the peninsula. Characterized by its spectacular granite mountains that abruptly dip onto the narrow coastal plain, it is mountainous and coastal at the same time, fronted by rich coral reefs, ecosystems that are unique to the Gulf of Aqaba. Its coral reef is almost undisturbed, full of diverse reef fish species and abounds in fauna and flora. It is also home to the largest number of nubian ibex, hyrax, red fox and striped hyena. There are also ten different species of lizards and snakes that have been identified.
