Day 1 *Luxor-Aswan
Our representative will meet you at your Luxor hotel at around 7 am and drive you to Aswan. First stop is a visit to Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis. Let us note that perched on the island of Agilkia, this is not the Temple’s first home. It was situated close by until the waters from the High Dam flooded it and it was decided to relocate it to its present location. An amazing feat realized by fearless engineers and conservators. After lunch in Aswan, we shall take another felucca ride to visit Elephantine Island where we will make you acquainted with the Nubian people, the friendliest people in Egypt. Their simplicity will charm you, imbued with a lifestyle that has barely changed down the ages. Then we will return you to your hotel in Aswan and bid you a good evening until we meet again the next day.
Day2 *Aswan-Luxor
After check-out in the very early (3:30 am) hours of the morning and loading ourselves with a boxed breakfast provided by the hotel, we shall make our way to Abu Simbel, one of the most intriguing, daunting temples there is. After three hours on the road, hitting sunrise, we will set our sights on these gigantic statues shamlessly glowering at us small people. It is a humbling moment, as you gaze upon them and feel the pull of eternity. A more intriguing facet of the temple is that twice a year, the sunbeams will shine into the inner sanctuary and shed light on three of the four gods. Guess which one stays in darkness? Yes indeed, the god of Darkness himself, Ptah, god of the underworld.
